What Time Period Will Be American Girl's Next Historical?

Sorry I was gone for so long. I changed Blaire's name to Ophelia. Also, I'm seeing Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase today! Anyways, here's the post!!!

I was on the American Girl Doll News site when I saw she had put a link to a video where American Girl's historian announced that they are working on a new doll. Yet, the question is, when will she be from. We don't know her (or his) name or time period. So what do we know? Well, that's what I'm kind of wondering too. Yet, there are some loose things we know that could help us keep a lookout for leaks. Here is a quick timeline of what American Girl has done. (I don't know the title for say of each era.)

- Mid and Late 1700s- Kaya and Felicity
- War of 1812/1810s- Caroline
- Mid 1800s/1850s- Marie-Grace, Cecile, and Kirsten
- Civil War Era/1860s- Addy
- Victorian Era- Samantha
- 1910s- Rebecca
- Great Depression/1930s- Kit
- World War II/1940s- Nanea and Molly
- 1950s- Maryellen
- 1960s- Melody
- 1970s- Julie

I said this a bit less than 2 years ago, but for Nanea, it seemed like American Girl was showing another "side" of life in World War II. In Nanea and Molly's stories they wanted the same basic things, yet they had different life situations. So, they easily could do this for another era as well. Two eras I think they could do are the 1920s and the 1980s. I'm not expecting the 90s, because American Girl seems to go pretty much in order now; not counting the skip of the 1920s. Although in the past I've leaned more towards thinking American Girl will make an 80s or 90s girl next, I have to disagree with myself this time. This is because the historian in the video mentioned how Pleasant Rowland and American Girl truly wanted to teach people through this whole thing. With the title 'Beforever' going away, it seems that they old American Girl is coming back. I feel that we can expect a new approach on teaching that will have American Girl having girls buy their dolls for the stories and hands-on learning, instead of solely based on appearance. American Girl is a big reason of why I'm so into history. I'm even trying to base Ophelia's style off of what I want mine to be. (Retro and floral to say the least.) So, therefore, I am going to guess the 1920s, because I feel (it could be just me though) doesn't really know what life was like back then for young girls.
Sorry for the break and how long this post was.

Thank you so much for reading!!!

  1. Ohh cool!I doubt they'll do this, but if it is 1980 or 1990, I would like them to do something with the Berlin wall, as I think the Emory traidmark would fit.

    1. Unfortunately The Berlin Wall didn't have much affect on the everyday life of an American Girl back in the 80s and 90s. I should know...I grew up during that time. In fact, there wasn't alot of historical significance in the 1980s at all. They'll probably focus more on pop culture and technology. Nothing extraordinarily profound. I would prefer the 1920s myself. There's more history there.

  2. Wow it would be so fun to have a doll from the 1920' s there would be so many amazing openings for the sets and other things.

Now about the 19802s and 1990s well I don't think AG will be releasing dolls from that time period given that they came out then. in addition to that the AG dolls seem to have a pattern of ending in 4s (minus Caroline Marie-Grace, Cecile and Nenea. all for reasons of course. for all except Caroline they already had dolls from that time period ending in 4s that had retired. With Caroline they simply wanted to have a doll from the war of 1812 I suspect.) anyway Nothing exiting really happened in 1984 or 1994 except for a major earthquake in Los Angeles in 94. So I think they would have lots more from the roaring twenties. that's just my opinion.

So thanks for reading my theory.
