4 Things American Girl Has Changed About Their Dolls
I will be doing a countdown to the AG Benefit Sale by posting everyday leading up to it. Since no one really knows what my collection looks like, I decided to do more of my collection in these 10 days. With my dolls, I have discovered some things American Girl has changed over time and I wanted to share them with you. I will be showing my doll beds, my dolls, my archived items, how I customized Elanor (my Our Generation), and some other things as well. Now, here are 4 changes American Girl has made with their dolls.
1. Posts. In the picture of Nanea's eye, you can see a gap between the vinyl and the actual eye. In that gap you see a small white post that you shouldn't be able to see. In the picture of Clara's eye, there is a tiny gap with no white post. American Girl has made a larger gap for Luciana too. They just keep cheapening up.
2. Pinwheel. In original pinwheel, the darker colors look almost like one solid color and indents are hardly visible. In pinwheel with lighter colors, the indents are visible. Luciana's eyes (last picture) don't have genuine indents, it's almost like they just set in a piece of paper.
3. Zip Ties. Up until 2016, American Girl didn't keep necks in place with zip ties. Instead, they tied it off with a sort of string. (I forgot the name, oh well.) Our Generation dolls have always had zip ties, but they are visible on them. On American Girl dolls, the zip ties are completely covered. American Girl most likely did this to save money and to prevent us from customizing and fixing up dolls ourselves.
4. The branding on their necks. Since American Girl was originally called Pleasant Company, that's what was on their necks. It then was changed to say American Girl in a slightly lower spot. For Nanea it was lowered to the bottom of her neck and was a slightly different font.

I am sadly not going as I don’t live close ;-; and it’s just sad how AG is going down in quality and I have seen the little white thing in Luciana’s eyes and it’s so annoying and I feel like the zip ties were because they don’t want people customizing their dolls which is stupid if you wanna customize your doll you should be able to
ReplyDeleteI agree, and it's too bad that you can't go to the AG Benefit Sale. For me it's just a couple hours of driving. I haven't seen the white things in my Luciana's eyes, but I think it's because American Girl quality can slightly different for each doll. American Girl is just wanting money and they think lowering quality and zip ties is the answer.
